My professional life changed 19 years ago today when Healthy Sins became a corporation...and a reality. When I look back, I'm in complete awe and disbelief. With literally no food service experience, this move was a total leap of faith. I took a risk and left a Corporate career after 20 years to follow a passion. Some said I was crazy. Some supported.
When I say there are so many people to thank, it's true. From family, friends, acquaintances, co-workers (past and present), to the customers... I'm forever grateful. To those who thought I was crazy...I thank you, too. You inspired me to fight to prove myself. Doubt me? Watch me! That's the Greek in me.
Six years later, Healthy Sins, Inc. expanded by purchasing The Vegan Cafe. Again, some said I was crazy. Some supported. I still said...watch me. Now, almost 13 years since the purchase, I am proud to say we're thriving even in an uncertain economy. We made it through 2 years of road construction just to be followed by 3.5 years of a pandemic, to be followed by more road construction. Special thanks to the incredibly talented staff, past and present. Without the talent and commitment from these individuals, this post would have been written quite differently, if written at all.
In 19 years, literally thousands of guests have been served. What started with private parties for family and friends, quickly expanded to Corporate clientele, prominent political figures, media professionals, Chicago CEO's and...yes... Def Leppard. We've received numerous accolades over the years. We're still ranked in the Top 100 nationwide on Yelp's list for Best Burger, #62 to be exact. It's been a life changing experience and a debt of gratitude is owed to each and every one of you. Special thanks to those who believed in me even when I didn't believe in myself.
