My professional life changed 16 years ago today when Healthy Sins became a corporation...and a reality. When I look back, I'm in complete awe and disbelief. With literally no food service experience, this move was a total leap of faith. I took a risk and left a Corporate career after 20 years to follow a passion. Some said I was crazy. Some supported.

When I say there are so many people to thank, it's true. From family, friends, acquaintances, co-workers (past and present), to the customers... I'm forever grateful. To those who thought I was crazy...I thank you, too. You inspired me to fight to prove myself. Doubt me? Watch me! That's the Greek in me. 😉

Six years later, Healthy Sins, Inc. expanded by purchasing The Vegan Cafe. Again, some said I was crazy. Some supported. I still said...watch me. Now, almost 10 years since the purchase, I am proud to say we're thriving even in an uncertain economy. We made it through 2 years of road construction just to be followed by 3.5 years of a pandemic, to be followed by more road construction.

Special thanks to the incredibly talented staff, past and present. Without the talent and commitment from these individuals, this post would have been written quite differently, if written at all.

In 16 years, literally thousands of guests have been served. It started with private parties for family and friends. It quickly expanded to Corporate clientele, prominent political figures, media professionals, Chicago CEO's and...yes... Def Leppard. Most recently, having been named as #62 in the top 100 nationwide by Yelp. It's been a life changing experience and a debt of gratitude is owed to each and every one of you.

Chicago Burger Among Top 10 in US, According to New Ranking From Yelp

The list includes three Chicago burgers and four Illinois locations

Chicagoans are no strangers to good burgers, but it turns out a number of area burgers have made Yelp's list of Top 100 Burgers in the U.S., including some unexpected selections.

The review website released its newest ranking ahead of the Memorial Day holiday and "the official start of burger 'search season,'" with three Chicago spots and four Illinois locations making the cut.

The highest-ranking eatery to make the list is Kuma's Corner, a city staple dishing out burgers with a side of heavy metal music. The restaurant came in at no. 9 on the U.S. list.

Also making the top 100 from Chicago were The Chicago Diner, a vegan eatery in Chicago's Lakeview neighborhood, which ranked at no. 59, and Can't Believe it's Not Meat at no. 86.

A number of vegan options were named on the list, with Yelp noting that the ranking includes "choices for every burger type and taste, from fast-food faves and juicy diner classics to outrageous stack-ups at the latest pop-up joints—and a host of international mashups, too."

Vegan Cafe in Lockport came in at no. 62, Tracks in Cary ranked at no. 67, Geneva Ale House in Geneva was listed at no. 81 and Rockford's Baker Street Burgers rounded out the Illinois locations at no. 87.
